What did we supply?
As part of the building’s architectural design stage, Speciaiist Glass Products was approached to provide bespoke curved glass units that perfectly fit the building’s shape. We provided a range of units including 12.8mm Acoustic Laminated (with Face 4 Coolite 183) and 10.8mm Acoustic Laminated glass.
We supplied bespoke glass panels, each with unique bends, to fit on the outside of all seven levels of the building. To meet building safety requirements, we processed the units made from toughened laminated glass to avoid accidental damage and to enhance safety for occupants inside the building.
What were the benefits?
One of Globe Point’s main selling points to customers in the office space is that the building is bright and airy, and SGP’s bespoke units help to ensure that light floods into the building to reduce reliance on electric lightbulbs.
In addition, the curved glass units help create a striking and modern office space design. As the number of flexible managed offices and co-working spaces grows, buildings must stand out with stunning design features to attract new clientele.
The building also boasts an energy-efficient design. The seven levels of glass windows ensure that the space gets plenty of sunlight and reduces the reliance on electricity. The glass contained a Wamedge spacer bar, which is designed to increase thermal performance. Similarly, the bricks were chosen for their thermal properties to reduce overall energy consumption.
