We were appointed by 360 GSS to create custom curved glass panels for a curved glass balustrade constructed at a luxury property in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire.
This curvature of the balustrade on a raised terrace created some unique challenges in this project. The custom base channels, which reinforced the raised structure, necessitated exact measurements for the curved glass units.
Our team was happy to take on the bespoke measurements and worked precisely to ensure the curved glass fitted perfectly to the surrounding infrastructure for safety and durability.
What did we supply?
We processed and supplied six panels of clear laminated curved glass. The curved glass panels were then cut and polished to be exactly 21.5mm to fit within the building’s unique contours.
We laminated two identical layers of clear glass along with an EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) interlayer to enhance the units’ durability. This interlayer is placed between two or more sheets of glass and then heated and vacuum-sealed during the lamination process. EVA repels moisture, making it ideal for outdoor and humid environments.
We worked from CAD designs given by our client to ensure a cohesive look to the overall curved glass balustrade. Then, to give the panels a smooth finish, we polished each glass panel using our CNC machine.
What were the benefits?
The frameless curved glass balustrade has created an uninterrupted view for the homeowners, allowing them to safely enjoy being on their elevated balcony without blocking the view of their gardens.
The laminated safety glass provides peace of mind for the homeowner and reduces the risk of injury in case of accidental breakages.
