Untreated glass poses a significant slip hazard, especially when wet, due to its smooth surface and minimal grip, whereas anti-slip glass undergoes treatment to enhance its friction surface, reducing the risk of slip injuries. The level of slip resistance varies based on the specific type of glass chosen, but it consistently surpasses that of traditional toughened glass.
Glass flooring is commonly paired with toughened laminated glass units, comprising two glass panes bonded by a robust interlayer of PVB/EVA interlayers to enhance resilience and minimise the risk of damage and breakages.
Dream Anti-Slip Glass
Standard ‘float glass’ is the most commonly used for windows, with a heating process used to anneal glass for enhanced durability
This glass is processed as a standard stock glass and can be polished, CNC shaped, drilled and laminated with any combination of other glass, making this an ideal choice for stair treads and flooring panels in multi laminates to conform to British standards for walk-on flooring.
We are proud stockists of ‘Dream’ and Punto Anti-Slip glass.
The unique properties of anti-slip glass offer an appealing alternative for flooring, creating a sense of spaciousness that surpasses traditional options like tiles or wood flooring.
Punto Anti-Slip Glass
This specialist glass product undergoes chemical etching on one side to create a textured surface with raised, rough points.
The adjacent glass remains transparent and glossy, permitting light transmission beneath areas where foot traffic is anticipated. From below, the view is partially obscured, revealing only the silhouettes of individuals walking above.
