Curved glass is available from Specialist Glass Products in three forms:
Annealed Curved Glass
Standard ‘float glass’ is the most commonly used for windows, with a heating process used to anneal glass for enhanced durability
Glass bending is achieved by applying heat to flat glass. This softens the sheet and allows us to shape it in a mould produced from a template or created from a Specialist Glass custom CAD drawing.
The curved glass we supply is manufactured in-house from raw material flat glass – either float, patterned, Pilkington K Glass, wired, tinted, or even self-cleaning Pilkington Activ glass.
Annealed curved glass can also be laminated together to produce laminated safety glass bends.
Annealed bends can be used in single—or double-glazed glass applications where safety is not a priority. Examples of this would be upper-floor window glazing, clock faces, or picture frames.
Laminated Curved Glass
By applying an interlayer between two matching Annealed bends, we can create a safety glass that guarantees a durable glass structure built to last – and designed to withstand moderate impact.
Our vast expertise and unrivalled craftsmanship mean we can offer a range of laminate bends, including ‘cast in place’, ‘PVB’ and ‘SGP’ (also known as Sentry Glass) options, as well as coloured curved glass and laminate bends with cut-outs, notches or holes where required.
This versatility across our laminate portfolio makes our glass ideal for a number of applications, such as shop fronts and revolving glass doors. Screens, glass partitions and canopies will benefit from our in-house laminated glass manufacturing.
Specialist Glass can also use laminated curved glass as components in double-glazed glass structures.
Toughened Curved Glass
Otherwise known as tempered glass, toughened glass is produced from annealed glass – which is heated and then cooled rapidly.
This introduces stress into the surface of structural glass, strengthening it for enhanced safety. If it is subject to impact or thermal stress, our toughened curved glass will break into small, blunt fragments to reduce the risk of injury – which is particularly reassuring where glass is to be installed in a public place or busy office environment.
Typical applications for toughened curves are balustrade infill panels, shower screens, canopies, reception fronts and curved double-glazed units.
All Specialist Glass bends are available in Low E, Low iron, tinted, pre-acid or satin, painted and sandblasted. Heat soak testing and heat-strengthened glasses are also available. Toughened curved glass, like annealed bends, can also be made into toughened laminated glass.

Jumbo and Bespoke Glass Measurements:
At Specialist Glass Products, our glass bending machine which allows us to curve glass up to 3200mm x 5000mm in a range of thicknesses (4mm-19mm).
Our exacting standards are what set us apart from other commercial and industrial glass manufacturers, and we pride ourselves on paying the closest attention to detail on every project we undertake.
To enable Specialist Glass to manufacture a custom-made curve, we simply need two of five measurements along with the height. We can create a perfect glass bend to your specifications with this information.
Alternatively, we can work with an existing template to create annealed, toughened or laminated curved glass, or draw on decades of experience and expertise to create one for you from scratch.
